The company is a specialist in the customisation, development and deployment of innovative mobile robotic platforms for challenging tasks and has experience in multiple industries, including nuclear decommissioning, utilities, oil and gas and offshore wind.
Ice Nine Robotics Solutions oftens designs for confined, cluttered, pitch-black and GPS denied environments, incorporating a range of novel sensor payloads such as Lidar and RGB-D cameras.
Technical capabilities include:
- Submersible ROVs
- Floating USVs
- Drones/UAVs
- Tracked and wheeled ROVs
- Autonomous control
- Radiation tolerance
The team completes work under various commercial models, including as sub-contractors, consultants or complete turn-key solutions through to on-site deployments.
Project Spotlight: Micro-UAV
Our Micro-UAV technology has been developed as part of a challenge brought forward by Sellafield stakeholders to inspect hazardous nuclear cells that are unsafe or impossible to access for human operators.
The target environment is pitch-black, cluttered, GPS denied, with access constrained to a 140mm diameter port, through 1m thick concrete walls. Deployment, operation and retrieval, needs to be conducted beyond visual line of site (BVLOS).
Ice Nine technology adapts robust UAV technology into a custom hardware and software package, adding lighting, obstacle sensing and camera tilting, enabling pilots to inspect hard to reach areas and offer insight for safe and efficient asset management.
