Teams thrive on solving complex nuclear industry challenges which are then successfully deployed on the Sellafield site. The introduction of innovations is aimed at developing bespoke products which achieve Sellafield’s mission safer, faster and more cost efficiently.
Project Spotlight:
ROV– This programme provides SME support to site. The team implements new ways of working that align to the industry’s best practice by developing an innovative approach to problem solving. Using ROVs will allow remote inspections on usually inaccessible equipment and areas with fewer risks and at a reduced cost.
UAV – The UAV equipment programme is a visual data solutions provider which is able to bring the unreachable into focus. Sellafield’s UAV team has hundreds of hours of experience in flying complex missions. UAV surveys and inspections can be carried out to help customers assess the condition of their assets, externally and internally.
Robotics– Robotic manipulator platforms are deployed to some of the most hazardous environments. The team creates new and innovative solutions within a collaborative working space from initial trials, subsequent development and deployment onto site.
Emerging Technology– Using a data-driven approach, the team identifies specific use cases, then trials and tests emerging technologies to understand where the application may benefit the company. Virtual Reality is the first of these technologies and the VR-supported electrical programme will be rolled out site-wide.
Engineering Sprints- Turning problems into solutions. The teams work to find solutions for operational problems and then deploy them on site.
